ParentSquare
ParentSquare is a simple-to-use platform that provides a safe way for everyone at a school to connect. This is the district's primary means of communicating with students and parents for district, school and classroom events, information and emergency communications. Your student's principal will send out newsletters via this site as well as any athletic information and updates from our coaches and athletic directors. Please click here for more information on ParentSquare.
ParentVUE
ParentVUE is the application parent/guardians can use to view their student's official grades, attendance and class schedules. Activating your ParentVUE account is also your first step to gaining access to Canvas (our student Learning Management System) and TouchBase Payment portal, where you can make lunch deposits, pay student fees and more!
Canvas
Canvas is our student learning management platform. Please click on this link to find out more information on how to access your parent account (hint: you must activate your ParentVUE account first. Contact your student's school for instructions). Canvas is used primarily by our secondary schools (grades 6-12) for assignments and instruction. There you can see your student's progress in an observer role which basically lets you see what your student sees. You cannot take quizzes or turn in homework but it is a very similar experience. Contact your student's teacher for more information.
FlashAlert: Register SHSD Page
The FlashAlert® system provides access to emergency messages, such as breaking news or weather closure information, and news releases from participating organizations. In addition, some organizations have opted to enable the public to subscribe to the messages they post, receiving the information as emails, cell phone text messages or via the free service Twitter. There is no cost to the public for viewing FlashAlert information or subscribing to messages if offered.
Any data usage fees incurred by registered users is responsibility of the registered user.
TouchBase Payment Portal
The TouchBase Payment Portal is where you go to make student lunch deposits online, pay student fees and more. You can even make donations to the district or school via TouchBase at THIS LINK. You must have activated your ParentVUE account and wait until the next business day for your account to be created on TouchBase. This wait allows our systems to connect you to your student(s) and their school(s). Once your TouchBase account has been created, access the site links above for instructions on how to reset your password and gain access.
Social Media
You can also follow SHSD on social media. This information will be updated as time and work loads allow. Please note social media is not the main communication method used for important and/or emergency announcements. ParentSquare and FlashAlert are the main communication methods for important and/or emergency information.
