Dustin Salisbury, Principal
My name is Dustin Salisbury and I consider myself a local boy and native Oregonian. I was born in Longview and lived in Rainier from age 4-18. After graduating from Rainier High School, I attended Warner Pacific College in Portland and graduated with Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees and 3 minors. While teaching in Longview, I acquired my Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from City University in Vancouver. I am currently taking classes to attain my Doctorate of Education degree. I hold teaching licenses in Oregon and Washington and hold administrator credentials in Oregon, Washington and Idaho.
I was the assistant principal for four years here at Lewis & Clark before becoming the principal. Prior to becoming an administrator, I taught in Rainier, Oregon; The Cayman Islands; and Longview Washington. I worked as the principal of an elementary school in Idaho for two years then took a principalship on the Washington coast for three years and then moved here to be closer to family, who lived in Kalama. I am currently starting my 13th year as a school administrator and 8th year at Lewis & Clark.
In my spare time I enjoy remodeling, camping, four-wheeling, hiking, and boating with my wife and kids. I have two kids in the St. Helens School District, a 8th grader and a 10th grader.
I love living in the community I work in because I really enjoy seeing students and their families outside the school setting. I believe 'it takes a village to raise a child' and living in the 'village' helps me make a bigger impact with our students. I often see students playing in their neighborhoods; at Safeway, Walmart, at soccer matches, basketball games, the fair, 13 Nights and other places. It is fun to see their reaction when I acknowledge them out in public.
I truly believe education is the catalyst to help kids achieve any dream they may have, whether it is becoming an astronaut, a doctor, a plumber, an electrician, a nurse, a dentist, an educator, a lawyer, a secretary, a mechanic or an entrepreneur. We will do our very best to inspire them and help them get ready to become whatever they aspire to be!
Also, thank you for being involved in your child's education! Parent support of their children's education is one of the greatest factors in a successful education. Parents who talk positively about education and being involved in their child's learning speaks volumes to children.
If YOU value education, THEY will value education.
We are all in this for one reason, the success of kids!
Thank you for your support,
