Welcome to Speech!

This is my 4th year as a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in the St. Helens School District! I have previously worked in both the Hillsboro and Rainier School districts. As an SLP, I provide specially designed instruction to students with Communication Disorders. This may include, but is not limited to, difficulties with articulation, receptive and expressive language, and social communication skills. Currently I provide speech and language services at Lewis and Clark Elementary School and Arthur Academy.
I earned my Bachelor of Music in Education from Pacific University in 2001. From there, I went on to Willamette University in Salem, OR to pursue an equivalency degree in Music Therapy. I have practiced as a nationally board certified music therapist for over 15 years with individuals ranging from early childhood to 90 years old! I continued my education later in life, and received my Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Western Kentucky University in 2012.
I grew up in St. Helens and graduated in the class of 1993! It has been a wonderful experience working in the community and school district that I loved as a child and again love today! My husband and I have one son, 3 dogs, 3 chickens, 3 parakeets, and 1 cockatiel--it's a real zoo! As a family, we love going camping, traveling, reading, watching movies, dressing up for Comic Cons, and just having crazy fun together.
It is a privilege to get to work with your children and I LOVE what I do! Please do not hesitate to contact me or either of my SLP colleagues, Melissa Howard or Heather Braaten, if you have any questions or concerns regarding speech and language services.
