Welcome to Spanish class! My name is Maestra Beck and I teach Spanish 1 and 2 this year. My aim is to encourage a love for language learning as well as an interest in the products, perspectives, and practices of Spanish-speaking cultures. All my classes use a mix of second language acquisition strategies including comprehensive input, Swain's output hypothesis, immersion, TPR, and OWL. I follow ACTFL's 5 standards of language (speaking, writing, reading, listening, and culture) and adhere to its recommendation of keeping to the TL at least 90% of the time. Students can expect to spend most of the period up and moving, conversing in small and large groups, observing rich cultural practices, and gradually creating more complex Spanish content as they progress through the year. I'm so excited to learn from my students this year, thanks for visiting!
I post a daily summary of what we did in class with links to any classwork or homework on Google Classroom. If you have a gmail account, you can join your child's period by visiting classroom.google.com and entering your respective period's class code:
    1st period: 3ncc6uf
    3rd period: hfwhuy
    4th period: h6471ue
    5th period: inmkss
    6th period: c9qict
    7th period: m1wx3u
If your child is absent, they NEED to check Google Classroom to keep up with work and will find that they may be able to come back to class with everything already completed and ready to join class again.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by email and I am usually able to respond in 1 business day. Thanks for visiting!
