The St. Helens School District is dedicated to maintaining a strong partnership with parents in our effort to provide the very best education for our students. The key to that partnership is open communication.

The following email is an effort to inform parents that the School Team at Lewis & Clark Elementary was made aware of a threat that a student made out of anger toward another student and a staff member. Upon notification, the School Team contacted local law enforcement who responded to the building and were present at the end of the school day today, which was witnessed by students and families.

Whenever a threat is made, the School Team begins the threat assessment process, working in collaboration with local law enforcement, and the family to determine the viability of the threat and the next steps that need to be taken. At this time, our local law enforcement partners are completing their investigation and will work with the School Team to discuss their findings and next steps. The safety of our students and staff is and will always be our first priority. 

We want to thank those who came forward to report the incident, the staff for quickly following the protocols set in place for such events to ensure the safety of everyone involved, and local law enforcement for their quick response, thorough investigation, and commitment to student safety.
