The St. Helens School District is dedicated to maintaining a strong partnership with parents in our effort to provide the very best education for our students. The key to that partnership is open communication.
The following email is an effort to inform parents that the SHHS Administrative team has been made aware of a threat that a student made out of anger toward students attending the SHHS homecoming dance this evening. The high school administrative team has contacted local law enforcement who are in touch with the student and their family.
Whenever a threat is made, the administrative team starts the threat assessment process, working with local law enforcement and the family to determine the viability of the threat and the next steps that need to be taken. At this time, local law enforcement and the SHHS Administrative team have determined there is no immediate threat, and the student in question will not be attending the dance tonight and will be under parental supervision. However, out of an abundance of caution, we will have increased police presence at our homecoming dance this evening. The safety of our students and staff is and will always be our first priority. We want to thank those who came forward to report the incident, the staff for quickly following the protocols set in place for such events to ensure the safety of everyone involved, and local law enforcement for their quick response, thorough investigation, and commitment to student safety.
