The following email is an effort to inform parents that the SHMS Administrative team has been made aware of a situation concerning a possible threat made by a SHMS student. The middle school administrative team is working with local law enforcement who are contacting the student and their family.
Whenever a threat is made, the administrative team starts the threat assessment process, working with local law enforcement and the family to determine the viability of the threat and the next steps that need to be taken. Out of an abundance of caution, you may notice an increased police presence at school tomorrow to maintain a safe environment. The safety of our students and staff is and will always be our first priority. We want to thank those who came forward to report the incident, the staff for quickly following the protocols set in place for such events to ensure the safety of everyone involved, and local law enforcement for their quick response, thorough investigation, and commitment to student safety.
