Dear St. Helens Middle School Families,
At the St. Helens School District, we are committed to maintaining a strong partnership with families to provide our students with the very best education. We believe that open communication and transparency are foundational elements of any partnership.
This email is to inform you that from 11:55 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., St. Helens Middle School was placed on Hold due to a student altercation. We want to emphasize that students and staff were not in any danger during the Hold but rather needed to stay in their classrooms so that staff could manage the situation.
When a school is placed on ‘Hold,’ it means that all students and staff are to remain in their current classroom locations and keep the area clear. Once the hold was lifted, those needing to get to other classrooms within the building were able to do so.
For the safety of our students and staff, our district, along with local emergency response personnel, follow the I Love U Guys Safety Protocols. If you would like further information on how we use these protocols to respond to incidents when they arise, you may review this information on our webpage HERE. All those within the building are safe, and we would like to thank students and staff for calmly and quickly following the protocols set in place for such events to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
