• Welcome Mustangs! WELCOME TO THE 2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR McBride Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

    Dear Parents, Guardians and Teachers,

Welcome back to McBride Elementary! For those of you who are new to this school, we warmly welcome you to this amazing family. The Board of McBride Elementary PTO would like to answer some FAQ’s about the Organization.

    • What is the PTO and Who Can be a Member? The purpose of the PTO is for charitable purposes, more specifically to promote cooperation between parents, teachers and the community for the welfare and education of children in McBride Elementary. We will cooperate with the schools to support the improvement of education in ways that will not interfere with administration of the schools and shall not seek to control their policies. We are incorporated under a 501(c) (3) charitable status. As such, all donations are tax exempt. Congratulations! - You are an automatic voting member of McBride PTO.
    • General Membership is open to any parent, guardian, and faculty or staff member of a kindergarten through sixth grade student at McBride Elementary. We hope that our partnership will pool a wealth of knowledge, talents, skills, and educate our youngsters. Your involvement really does make a difference in your child’s education.
    • PTO Programs & Fundraising - Our primary objective as a PTO is to provide our schools with funds, programs, resources and services that will enrich and maximize the education of every child. To meet this important objective, and afford services that are no longer covered by our school budgets, we must fundraise. Though it may not be our favorite responsibility, it is indeed a necessary one. Our school community must raise money if we want to provide our children with class trips, books ,classroom supplies, and much more. During the past years, the PTO has provided learning opportunities that would have otherwise been unavailable to our children. As the new school year begins, we would once again ask for your support so that we can continue making resource and learning opportunities available to our children. This year the Fun Run, Dutch Bros Coffee Gift Cards, Movie Tickets, MOD Pizza Night and Holiday Bazzar are our major fundraisers. If all goes well, the PTO plans to give $10,000 to our schools.
    • Become a Volunteer…Why YOU should get involved! We need your help, and so do your children.Over 500 independent studies on parent involvement show that when parents get involved in their children’s education grades go up, test scores improve, children are more likely to attend better schools after high school, they have fewer discipline problems and they’re less likely to use drugs and alcohol. Get involved TODAY! Please look at the PTO opportunities section for ways to get involved. Volunteering doesn’t have to mean a huge time commitment. We understand it is increasingly more difficult to find time to give, but please, whatever your time schedule allows, we need you. We even have tasks that can be performed in the evenings, during the day or that don’t even involve coming to the school at all. Please fill out the Volunteer Pledge Form and District Volunteer Application and get involved today! It is truly rewarding getting involved and watching your child blossom.

In conclusion - We strive to create an atmosphere where teachers, administrators, and support staff can do their best work – and so can our children. There is so much more that can be done and we need your help. The PTO welcomes you to join our meetings to raise your concerns, contribute your ideas and talents, to better our school. Our meetings are generally held on the second Thursday of each month, at 3:30pm in the school library. All meeting dates and activities will be posted regularly on our PTO website and our school newsletter. We would like to thank you in advance for your support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. May you have a wonderful school year and we look forward to seeing you at our next PTO meeting. On behalf of the McBride PTO we would once again like to extend a warm welcome and best wishes for a successful school year! Please contact any of us with questions or comments.
