Mr. Collins

I am married and have 3 children. My wife works in an elementary school in Beaverton. Our daughter is the oldest of our kids and the mother of my first granddaughter; My daughter graduated from Oregon State University in 2016 (GO BEAVS!) and got married in September in 2018. My twin boys graduated high school in 2017 and began attending Western Oregon University (GO WOLVES) that fall. One son graduated in 2021 and one son is continuing his studies for another year. Both have been members of the Track & Field team as throwers (Shot Put, Discus and Hammer) since their Freshman year.

My entire career prior to teaching was spent working in Washington County in the high-tech industry.  Among other things, I have done production testing of supercomputers, designed computer hardware and developed software models for other computer hardware engineers to use while testing their designs.

My teaching experience began in 2008 in the Beaverton school district where I taught Algebra I & II for 1 year.  I taught Algebra II and Computer Science in the Hillsboro school district the following year.

I resumed my teaching career in 2016 after nearly 5 years back in the high-tech industry at Intel. While at Intel I was part of a very large team of engineers collaborating to develop state-of-the-art computer chips. At Intel I wrote software that validates the semiconductor design prior to the manufacture of the silicon chip. The final chip I helped produce contains over 60 microprocessors and more than 8 Billion circuits: All on a piece of silicon that is less than 1 square inch in size!   Ask me to see it!
